A/N: Well, a background story on Aurora (with rough sketches) since I didn't put up much on her profile except that she graduated in Beacon ^^ After this, I'm gonna do Brooke's next (or at least try).

"Why do you want to become a huntress?"

Aurora remembered being asked that question when she got through Beacon's screening.

"Hmm?"

The question caught her off guard.

"Why do you want to become a huntress?" The professor, who she didn't even know, repeated.

Of all the questions to ask and all the people to be asked.

"Well, I've already thought about that during my previous education..." she said as she rubbed her nape and looked up.

The professor looked at her. "Have you gotten any answers for yourself?"

Aurora looked at him.

"I want to be huntress because-"

-

That question always got me thinking.

Why do I want to be a huntress?

Well, the main reason on why I got involved in huntress training was because of my family. The blood of a huntress flows in my veins. It was kinda a pressure for me. Especially the people who have eyes on every step I take.

'Make use of your semblance and talent' they said.

'You'll be a great huntress' they said.

Geez, fine, then.

I always was the trouble-maker of my family - getting into fights in school and tinkering almost any weapon and machine on sight(which gets me in trouble most of the time). I'm not exactly the 'prim and proper' kind of girl, unlike my sisters.

Also, I'm not a favorite because of my so-called rough personality. My grandparents, a.k.a. the head of our trainings, never thought of me greatly and never thought of me bringing pride to our family.

They said I'm reckless, lack discipline and worst of all, always sleep-deprived.

I guess that was my first drive to be a huntress - to prove them wrong.

But that drive kinda wavered one night while I was walking back home.

I yawned. "Geez. So, much school work to do... So sleepy..."

I walked and walked until I heard a car running behind me. I could hear the tires trying to break.

I quickly turned a heel and stopped the car before it could hit me.

Thank you for the semblance of strength.

I angrily slammed the hood of the car. "Hey! Watch it, will ya!?"

An old lady and a young man got out of the car.

"I'm so sorry, dear," the old lady said. "I hope you're not hurt."

I felt a little guilty for shouting at an old lady. I shook my head. "Uh, I'm fine..."

The boy spoke. "I'm sorry, I was driving. And the car's been acting strange. Sorry again."

I sighed and shook my head. "Yeah, yeah. It's okay."

I turned to get back to walking home. The car door closed so I assumed that they were inside again.

Then I heard the car engine start and then die. This happened for a few times. I then concluded that there was something wrong.

Well, I can't just leave them behind so I walked to them again. I could hear the guy fret.

"Grandma, it's not starting!"

The old lady replied sadly. "Oh my, how unfortunate we are to be stuck like this..."

"Uh, hey," I peeked at them from the window. The two surprisingly looked at me.

"I could help with your problem if you like," I said.

"Really? You can?" the guy perked up. I nodded and went to the hood to open it and start working.

I could feel the old lady and man looking over my shoulder as I worked on the engines. Good thing I had some screwdrivers and wrenches with me that time.

After a few minutes, I closed the hood. "Well, that should be it. Take it for a test."

The man went to the driver's seat and started the car. It worked.

"Hey! It started!" The man grinned goofily.

"My, that's splendid!" The old lady smiled sweetly at me.

"Um, how much Lien?" The man asked, reaching for his wallet in his pocket.

"Uh, no! It's fine! It's free labor," I said, stopping him.

The man tilted his head. "Are you sure?"

I nodded.

"Thank you, my dear," the old lady said. "We owe you."

I smiled. Just hearing a 'thank you' was enough for me. It felt good.

"My dear, are you a huntress?" The old lady suddenly asked.

"Me? Uh, no. Not yet. I'm still in training," I answered.

The old lady smiled. "Well, I'm sure you're going to be a great huntress when you grow up. You have a kind heart. You help people without asking for anything in return."

"Um, thanks," I said as I arched a brow.

The two waved their hands as they went in. "Do you need a ride?"

I shook my head as I pointed away. "My house is just around the corner."

With that, the two took off until they're out of sight.

What the old lady said was something to ponder.

When I arrived at home, I asked one of my sisters something.

"Hey, Daisy," I called out to her.

"What?" she answered me with a hint of irritation.

"Why do you want to be a huntress?"

She arched a brow. "Why the sudden question?"

"I don't know, I just felt like asking," I answered impatiently.

She sighed. "Of course. It's our family's tradition."

I looked at her, searching for another answer.

"Aaaand?"

She looked at me awkwardly before answering me again. "I take pride in our family's name. Also, a huntress' life is full of adventures. It's thrilling."

"That's all?" I asked.

"Yeah, what else do you want to hear?" she asked, annoyed.

I sighed and left. "Thanks anyways."

I couldn't get my mind out of the thought after that. I kept thinking what really means to be a huntress.

Is it just to prove something? Is it for honoring your family? Is it for the adventures?

I don't really think so...

What that old lady said earlier left an impact on me. I felt happy with what she said and happy at the fact that I was able to help.

Maybe that's the answer I was looking for.

I want to be a huntress because

-

"Because I want to help people in the extent of my abilities. With that comes the risk of taking the path of a huntress. It's not about fame. It's not about the name. No matter what your personality is, in the end it's about your good intentions towards your fellow men. Human or faunus."

The professor smiled at her. "That's a very interesting thought, Ms. Kahel."

Aurora shrugged.

"I'll be looking forward to the day you become a full-fledged huntress then," he took his cane and walked away. He then paused.

"By the way, if you're wondering, I am Professor Ozpin," he turned and smiled at her. He left, leaving Aurora astonished and frustrated that she didn't know she was talking to the headmaster of Beacon.

- Present Day

"Geez, those sure are the days..." Aurora leaned on her chair as she looked at some old photos.

She set the pictures down on the table and closed her eyes.

She let out a faint laugh. "Who would've known I'd be a professor and a mechanic in Beacon too."

Aurora was raised in a different and wrong ideal of being a huntress but it's a good thing she found out her true purpose right away ;)
